The continuous search for a place to sleep for my Dutch family and friends from all over the world,
gave me a long time ago, the idea to open an overnight accommodation of my own.
But it took several years from the idea to the opening of my own Bed and Breakfast.
This imagination never got out of my mind, not least because of my own plentiful positive
experiences in tourism and travelling.
After completing my apprenticeship as an office administrator I learned the profession of receptionist.
Here I discovered my passion to look after guests and give them a good time.
In addition I found the contact with visitors from all over the world and their different languages
and cultures fascinating.
Nonetheless I decided to acquire some more experience by completing an apprenticeship in
nursing to enrich my life. I spent some very intensive years with nursing which made me
more mature and also brought me a lot of satisfaction.
After many years of studies I felt the urge to see more of the world.
So I travelled for 4 years, in different countries, got to know interesting people, cities and cultures.
Finally I fell in love in Lucerne (in the double sense).
Then, when I came here 29 years ago I did not only get to know one of the most beautiful cities in
the world but also my husband Roman.
Even today I get this holiday feeling as I cross the "Seebrücke" to the centre of Lucerne, to see the surrounding mountains, the Lake of Lucerne and the historic old city.
In addition Lucerne stands out for a wide variety of cultural and culinary offers which are, not least, responsible for my wellbeing here.
Since I have settled down in Lucerne, I have been working together with my husband in our
own carpentry and interior design business.
I am responsible for the administration and I am ever so glad to spend some time in our workshop.
Sharing time with my husband, making plans and completing ideas and projects - or simply
doing some handcraft and taking care of the finishing touch of furniture with ecological oil.
But as already mentioned - the thought of receiving guests in my own Bed and Breakfast got stronger through all the years since arriving in Lucerne.
For this reason I would like to open my own B&B, to take up a new challenge and come
back to the roots in the tourism sector.
With this I hope that the stay of my guests with me in the "Rittershuus" will contribute to your
pleasant stay in Lucerne which will stay in your mind for a long time.
