The continuous search for a place to sleep for my Dutch family and friends from all over the world,

gave me a long time ago, the idea to open an overnight accommodation of my own.
But it took several years from the idea to the opening of my own Bed and Breakfast.

This imagination never got out of my mind, not least because of my own plentiful positive

experiences in tourism and travelling.

After completing my apprenticeship as an office administrator I learned the profession of receptionist.
Here I discovered my passion to look after guests and give them a good time.
In addition I found the contact with visitors from all over the world and their different languages

and cultures fascinating.
Nonetheless I decided to acquire some more experience by completing an apprenticeship in

nursing. I spent some very intensive years with nursing which made me

more mature and also brought me a lot of satisfaction.

After many years of studies I felt the urge to see more of the world.
So I travelled for 4 years, in different countries, got to know interesting people, cities and cultures.
The end of my journey brought me 35 years ago to Lucerne, one of the most beautiful cities in the world,

which I immediately fell in love with.

Even today I get this holiday feeling as I cross the "Seebrücke" to the centre of Lucerne, to see the surrounding mountains, the Lake of Lucerne and the historic old city.
In addition Lucerne stands out for a wide variety of cultural and culinary offers which are, not least, responsible for my wellbeing here.

Since I settled in Lucerne, I worked together with Roman Gilli in our own carpentry for the first 20 years. My knowledge in the administrative field and my pleasure in dealing with people also showed in my work in the carpentry. Collecting and realizing ideas and starting new projects is a great passion of mine. The renovation of this old house was my heart's project. Together we spent many years making this old house to what it is now.

For 10 years now, I have returned to my tourism roots and am a full-time host at my B&B Rittershuus which is very fulfilling.

The stay of my guests with me in the "Rittershuus" should contribute to your pleasant stay in Lucerne which will

stay in your mind for a long time.
